Hello again, Another beautiful day has come in the Ohio. This week has been super crazy. Transfers were awesome. A lot of changes were made. I got a new companion her name is Sister Hatch, I knew her a little bit because she works Monday at sites with me. It was a little intimidating having to take over my area though, there is so much potential and so wee just have to be willing to work. She is not really the personality that I would put in the ghetto, she is way to sweet and kind, and Mayfield is an area that you have to have thick skin a good sense of humor, and a lot of sarcasm, so I think it will be good for her. We tracted into a wonderful family the other day, she had a baby 5 days ago, she has 6 more children and she is not even a Mormon yet. Just think of the potential there! JK. But seriously talk about being prepared for the gospel. Our Jewish investigator is still trekking along, he grows closer to baptism and his Savior everyday. He has finished the Book of Mormon and right now we are reading it together so we can talk about what he is learning. We had a fireside here on Sunday that was so amazing, it was all centered on Christ and how if we trust in him as our captain and pilot, he will lead us back to our Father in Heaven. Isn't that such a glorious thought. One day we can return to live with Him who loves us more than even we know. But anyway the Marx's loved it. He told us, "all along it's like Christ was the big elephant in the room, I knew He was there but didn't want to accept it." Oh how I love seeing the atonement work in people's lives. I LOVE MISSIONARY WORK.
So I have an interview with President Sorenson today. Hopefully I pass. I have to create a vision of who I want to become through this work.
Oh also I was going to say. I know a couple of people from home are coming out to visit Kirtland, will you let me know when they are coming, I want to be here to give them the tour! Kirtland is such an amazing place. I have more love for it everyday. I do however wish I was a Full Pros sister. I love, love, love being in my area. Meeting new people on the street, giving out copies of the Book of Mormon, and sharing my testimony. There is power in that, and I feel like the people of Mayfield have so much to teach me!
As for how I am doing. All is well. I have my ups and downs, the roller coaster that missionary work is! But overall, 6:30 is really not that early, President isn't as scary as he looks, 18 months is not that long, talking to people about my belief in Christ isn't as scary as I feel it is, and Missionary work is really the best thing anyone can do! I hope you have an opportunity to serve with dad. I really do. Missions change people.
The saddest news of the week. I lost my CTR ring. I don't know how to Choose the Right without it. I was seriously so sad. I have been losing weight, because I may or may not feel well. Meaning I have a cold and the only thing that sounds good is broth so I eat a lot of that, not much weight gaining involved in that. Luckily I am better now and I can go back to eating delicious Big Macs. But my fingers are smaller so it falls off a lot, and I didn't realize it so it's somewhere around Kirtland. Oh well. No it's fine, but uh I was wondering if maybe you could send me a cheap one. Just a band one. They are the really little bands that have 1 ctr engraved on it. I want to say that Jon has one like it, but I want it in silver. But only if they are cheap.
Our DL thinks it's really funny that I have a cold. He called in for numbers on Sunday. I answered with a sweet "hello this is Sister Hillman" to which I hear, "Woah Sister! You sound like a Man!" Thank you Elder Stevens, so yup I sound like a man, (thank you sore throat and clogged nose), which makes making phone calls a delightful treat. Especially when the Elder you are giving a referral to says, did you just say this was Sister? Hillman! Bah!!!

April 10, 2012
What a week! So I said good-bye to my trainer yesterday. I got my new companion, a full proselyting sister, and within the first 5 minutes we were giving a tour. Bah. I was sooo nervous. They were non-members and had crazy children so that made it really awesome, plus our mission president was there watching us give the tour, and the AP's. So it was a little nerve racking giving a whole tour by yourself. But considering she had never given a tour before she did awesome at sharing the gospel. So that was the time I was a trainer for 2 days! I have been a little stressed out, I am the senior companion in my area but I am still training so it creates a little bit of a different situation. I get my second trainer tomorrow. There are two choices it can either be Sister Gamble who has been out full pros for the last 3 transfers or it will be Sister Hatch because her companion will be training a new sister.
That is so funny about the Elders, did you give them some referrals? What are their names? I don't think I ever met anyone in the MTC who was serving in the Pocatello, Mission. But I don't know. You meet a lot of people there. There are about 150 missionaries serving in the OCM right now. We are getting 8 new missionaries coming tomorrow. There are on their way here right now! So weird I can't believe I have already been out for 6 weeks. I feel like I have been out soo long.
The VC is starting to get crazy busy. More and more families are coming so it will make the days fly by, which is a scary thought. I half hope that next transfer I get sent out full-pros, that would be nice. I feel like I don't know much about actually teaching the gospel because we don't have time for studies because of our crazy sites schedule. But somehow we have lessons everyday, the Lord is keeping us busy that's for sure!
Our Jewish investigator is doing well. We have a lesson with him tonight and we will be going over what baptism means. So we are hoping to commit his wife to baptism as well. It has been quite the process to get to this point. It will be a rough transition trying to teach him with a new companion but that is why you just let the spirit lead right?
Sounds like your Easter was beautiful. I got my package on Saturday. I used the 12 eggs of Easter as an object lesson for all of those that we taught on Sunday. So thank you for that. Also the cookies were delicious. And the peeps. Man I just really think I love food too much.
I am working on sending pictures. I haven't really taken any lately. It is starting to be really pretty here but I just don't ever think to get my camera out. I finally got a picture with my district though, sadly one of our ZL's who was in our district was called as AP, (he has only been out about 9 months, he is an amazing Elder) so I didn't get him in the picture! I love my district. They are soo good. Our district leader makes calling in numbers very interesting , he has a lot of crazy stories seeing how he serves in the ghetto! But anyway I hope I'll get those out soon!
So the other day we were on chat and this man was trying to convince us that Book of Mormon was blasphemousness, to which we replied, "uh...no it's not." Anyway the point of this story is we committed him to read and pray about it, and he continued being contentious, so we got off. Apparently I didn't let my mind clear enough that night because I guess at around 2:00 in the morning this was my conversation with Sister Scott. Me: Flailing around in my sleep, then whacked the alarm clock. Sister Scott: It's 2 in the morning what are you doing? Me: Just read the Book of Mormon and Pray about it. S.S. Sister Hillman are you awake? Me: Yeah! You were the one that was talking! This was all done in my sleep. So that was the time I called my companion to repentance and then got mad at her for me sleep talking.
For district/zone meeting yesterday we got to go up to the temple and sing songs in the Lower Court. It was amazing! Bah I love Kirtland! Also we have an art Exhibit at sites right now, called Redeemer. Sketches by Liz Lemon Shwindle(something like that) But they are so good. I am going to send you a pass a long card that has one of her sketches! The work continues. The Lord is preparing all the time!
Love ya,Sister Hillman

April 4
Happy APRIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Conference is so amazing is it not? I love hearing the words of prophets and apostles, it is amazing how they seem to speak to every individual person and answer everyone's questions even though they are all different. Saturday sessions we watched at the VC but we had to take a tour out so we missed part of the afternoon. Oh well it comes out next month. Can you send me a copy when it comes out? on Sunday we watched it at the Mayfield building. Our two Jewish investigators came so that was nice, did I mention that after our lesson with him on Friday he now believes in Christ? Such an amazing feeling, he still doesn't know if he is ready for baptism but he believes in Christ, when the spirit teaches that is when people come to know that what we are teaching is true. We studied for that lesson for about 2 days, and when we got there we didn't even teach what we studied. That is because the spirit took over and testified of what they needed. Such an amazing thing. The gospel is true, and I am soo grateful that I get to be a part in people coming to know who their savior is.
That is fun that you were able to spend some time with Grams and Gramps. They are such great people. Some of the senior couples here have become just like them. They give the best hugs and they always know when something is wrong. They just have such a great spirit about them.
So my companion leaves next Monday, I get a full proselyting sister for 3 days as a companion because hers is going home also. However I am at sites on Monday and full pros sisters don't know anything about Kirtland, soo guess who is training her on how to give tours and make phone calls, and chat? That would be me. Bah. I know it is just a few days but I am so nervous. She will be staying in Mayfield with me until transfer meeting and we each get a new companion. What president is thinking I have no idea but whatevs!
We had our last training mtg this morning for the transfer. I cried. I do that a lot. I have turned into such a girl. Bah. Elder Edmond says it's good for me.
This week has been super busy, and it seems like time just keeps speeding up. It needs to stop doing that. I am still trying to get into the swing of things but I have learned that missionary work is all about being uncomfortable, I mean does one really ever feel comfortable standing on someones doorstep. I don't think so, but we do it anyway because our brothers and sisters need to hear the message we have!
The director called me in the other day to ask how I was doing, apparently I talk too much because I was quiet one morning and everyone thought I was sad/mad at something. Nope just tired. So that was an interesting conversation.
So to answer some of your questions. The members here are really good about feeding us, we usually eat lunch and breakfast at home, because we have studies at that time. But it is hard for them to find time to find people for us to teach so not a lot of referrals there. They are all residents so they know a lot of non-members though. It is just a matter of time. We are working a lot with the Less Actives, and we are teaching 4 investigators right now. 1 has a baptismal date for the 29th of April.
Letters really keep us going, pictures are also a nice thing. I stay at the VC 1 night a week, on Mondays because we don't have the miles to drive back into Kirtland for Training MTG on Tuesday. Those are fun nights, full of laughter and ice cream. There is another set of sisters that stay with us on those nights. The VC is starting to get really busy. We took out two tours yesterday one consisted of 2 families and a senior couple on their way home from serving in Palmyra! I am excited for summer to be here. I won't stay in Mayfield the whole time. Most sisters are in the same area for about 3-6 months. So the most being 4 transfers.
Whelp gotta run,

March 29, 2012
This week went by so fast. Where does time go. I am down to 15.5 months. What the heck? There is not enough time to do all the work that needs to be done.
So to get to the questions:I don't drive yet, I have to finish my training packet and be a co driver for 6 weeks before I get to drive the car. Sad day. I live in an apartment complex called Arbor Court, it always smells like Indian Food. Uh I don't know where the Elders live, I know the two sets live together but I don't know where their apartment is. East Cleve? President Haymond is the Stake President of Kirtland.
The companionship is going as well as it can, without getting sick of someone being with you 24/7. No major fights yet. At the VC we do tours together usually, especially where I am still learning them. In the summer sometimes we split up. It just depends on the people that come. She will run with me however so that is nice. I would be really really fat if that was not the case. I eat two helpings of ice cream every time we stay at the Edmunds home. They are the directors of The Sites. Yes I see all of the sisters. We have a weekly meeting on Tuesday for Training, this will happen the entire duration of my mission. But I get to see everyone. Sister Maynard is amazing. She is hilarious and we are good friends now. The only time we teach on the phone is when we get referrals from the comment cards that people leave. Everything through mormon.org is done on Chat. Charles is doing well, i haven't heard much from the Elders, but they have a baptismal date. They are suppose to call me on Thursday to let me know what is going on. Mostly on my Pday I sleep and write letters. It only goes from 10-6 so we have some time in our area on that day too. Which is nice we need more time. For conference we will be watching the Saturday session at sites and Sunday at the church building. We are hoping our investigators will be able to make it.
That is crazy that is a lot of missionaries. Probably the most we have had out in a while. How is the ward doing? Wards are a lot different out here. Most of our ward consists of Students, or residents and Less Actives so yeah. A lot of screaming children.
We just picked up another Jewish investigators. It is hard teaching someone about Christ being our savior when they have grown up their whole life thinking he wasn't. But you just have to be patient and love them.
We are still being busy, I have my days when I'd rather not wake up and have people slam doors in my face, or walk across the street to not talk to us, but every day I do I am blessed and at the end of the day I am glad I did. I love the work!
Our mission president always tells us, there are people out there who need the gospel, you have it, so go out and share it. So family. That is my commitment to you. You have it, they need it. Pray for opportunities to share it, because the lord is preparing people everyday to receive it!
Peace and Love,Sister Hillman
